Yoga
For me, yoga is an avenue for getting back into your body – or remembering that you have one in the first place. I postponed getting into the practice for years – the images of perfectly sculpted, thin bodies stretching into unattainable positions did not align with my values or my lived experience. Thankfully my friend and colleague at GW finally invited me to class and I was hooked. I loved the focus on breath, the freedom of modification, and the space for imperfection. In yoga class I laughed and I fell; I felt release and I felt pain. I felt alive, all of the challenges and victories.
I also fervently believe that yoga should be fun! We are playing on the mat, going upside down, rolling on the floor, synchronizing movement, sighing and shushing along the way. Every class I try to bring a bit of humor; it’s a reminder that we don’t always need to take ourselves so seriously. I am also constantly learning from my students – I am on the journey with you, rather than being ahead or an authority.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic, the studio where I happily taught for more than 6 years closed. I am available for single classes or workshop series, either online or in person. Please reach out if you’re interested, I would be happy to explore options with you!
